Frequently Asked Questions
Does this replace my need to check the car seat surface temperature manually?
The White Hot heat alert acts as a quick visual cue, but you should still confirm seat belt buckles and metal hardware are cool before placing your child in the car seat.
Is the mesh material certified to block UVA and UVB rays?
Yes, the Safe-View mesh is engineered to filter UVA/UVB rays that can harm a child's skin during long periods in the car.
Will the suction cups or clips come loose while driving and become a hazard?
The dual mounting system is designed for a secure fit on automotive glass, and the panels weigh only 13.7 oz so they will not sag, distort your window seal, or fly off at speed.
Does the one-push retract button let me roll the shade up quickly in an emergency?
Yes, the tool-free retract button lets a parent pull the shade down or roll it up in seconds, which is helpful when you need clear sightlines for merging, passing, or handing the car to another driver.
Can I trust the color-change indicator to alert me before the cabin gets dangerously hot?
The patented White Hot fabric is designed to turn white above a safe temperature threshold, giving you a fast visual warning so you can cool the car before strapping in your child.
How do I install the Munchkin Brica Sun Safety Car Window Shade in my vehicle?
Choose either the adjustable clips or the suction cups based on your window shape, attach the top edge of the panel to the glass, and press to secure. No tools are required, and the one-push retract button lets you roll the shade up when not in use.
How do I clean the mesh fabric without damaging the White Hot indicator?
Wipe the panels with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers that could affect the color-change coating on the White Hot fabric.
How do I store the shades when I am not using them?
Roll each panel up using the one-push retract button, then place them in the included storage pouch or a glove compartment. The 13.7 oz lightweight design makes them easy to carry between vehicles.
Will these shades fit my specific car, SUV, or minivan model?
The 15 x 19 inch panels and dual clip-or-suction mounting system are designed for universal fit on most rear side windows, including sedans, SUVs, minivans, and crossovers with curved glass.
Do the shades work with tinted windows or built-in rear window sun shades?
Yes, the mesh shades can be layered over factory tint or pulled down alongside built-in shades for added UV and heat protection, and the Safe-View mesh preserves outward visibility from the driver seat.
What is included in the box, and do I need to buy anything else?
The package includes two 15 x 19 inch sun shades with integrated mounting clips and suction cups. No additional hardware or accessories are required to install them in your vehicle.
Are these shades safe for my child if the car is in an accident?
The lightweight panels are designed to stay attached to the window and will not become projectiles under normal driving conditions, but the shades are a sun protection accessory and should not be relied on as a substitute for a properly installed car seat.
Will the shades damage my window seal, tint, or interior trim?
No, the 13.7 oz lightweight construction and smooth mounting hardware are designed to avoid pressure on window seals, tint, or trim when installed as directed.
What is the difference between a car window shade and a sun visor for a baby?
A car window shade covers the side or rear window with UV blocking mesh to filter sunlight across the entire child seat area, while a sun visor attaches to the car seat itself and only blocks a small zone. Window shades provide broader, more consistent protection on long drives.
