Frequently Asked Questions

Will these rust on my covered patio where rain blows in sideways?

The galvanized steel shaft and PP base are designed for covered outdoor use, including porches, pergolas, and three-season patios. They hold up well to typical weather exposure; for fully uncovered year-round outdoor furniture, we recommend occasional inspection of the shaft.

I have a rooftop deck with uneven pavers — will these level my bistro set?

Yes. The 1/3" to 3/4" adjustment range is ideal for the slight height differences between patio pavers, deck boards, and concrete slabs. Just thread each foot until the table and chairs sit level, and the bistro set will feel solid even on a textured surface.

Can I use these on Adirondack chairs that keep sinking into the grass?

These are designed for hard surfaces, so we recommend placing Adirondack chairs on a deck, paver pad, or patio before using the levelers. On grass or soft ground, a leveler cannot create a stable base the way a solid surface can.

Will the levelers hold up to summer heat and direct sun on a south-facing deck?

Yes. The PP base is rated for high-temperature exposure and will not soften, warp, or degrade in normal summer conditions. The galvanized shaft handles heat without issue, and the assembly is suitable for sun-exposed patios, decks, and balconies.

I'm a mobile barista — will these work in my pop-up tent at outdoor markets?

Yes. The levelers are compact, portable, and install in minutes. The non-slip base grips the plywood floors of pop-up tents and event flooring, keeping your espresso cart or display stable even when customers lean on the counter.

Can I use these for a pop-up retail booth at weekend markets?

Yes. Many small business owners pack a set of these to level their folding tables, garment racks, and display pedestals on uneven parking-lot asphalt. They are a low-cost way to make a market booth look professional and stable.

I run a food truck with outdoor seating — will these work on my picnic tables?

Picnic tables typically have angled legs and a different mounting style, so these specific levelers are best suited to standard-leg patio and dining furniture. For picnic tables, we recommend a wedge-style or strap-on patio leveler designed for that geometry.

Will these help with my outdoor restaurant tables on a tile patio?

Yes. Tile patios crack, settle, and shift over time, which is exactly the kind of uneven surface these levelers were designed for. The galvanized construction handles outdoor wipe-downs, and the PP base grips tile better than bare wood or felt glides.

Can I use these on a vintage patio glider that rocks on the deck?

It depends on the glider's leg design. If the legs are straight and accept a T-nut, yes. If the glider has curved or splayed legs, you may need a different style of leveler. Measure the leg thickness and confirm the thread size before ordering.

Will the levelers stay put when I drag my planter stand across the deck?

Dragging furniture is not recommended, as it can damage the T-nut mount and scratch the floor. The levelers are designed to be adjusted in place and left in position, not to act as glides. Lift and set the planter stand to reposition it.

How do these compare to those plastic patio furniture leg caps?

Plastic caps cover the leg end and offer minimal leveling, usually just stacking a thicker cap on the short leg. These threaded levelers adjust continuously over a 1/3" to 3/4" range, support over 200 lbs, and grip the surface far better than a friction-fit cap.

Are these better than the rubber feet that come on most patio furniture?

Yes. Factory rubber feet offer little to no adjustment, wear out quickly outdoors, and rarely solve wobble on uneven patios. These threaded levelers give you continuous fine-tuning adjustment, hold up to weather, and are easily replaceable when the original feet fail.

Why not just put a folded towel under the short leg of my patio table?

A towel works for an afternoon and then gets soggy, mildewed, or kicked out. A threaded steel leveler handles weather, supports the full weight of the table, and stays locked in position. It is the permanent outdoor version of the towel fix.

Will the leveler leave rust stains on my concrete patio?

No. The galvanized zinc coating prevents the steel from rusting and bleeding onto the surface. Even after months of outdoor exposure, the shaft and base will not leave orange marks on concrete, stone, or pavers.

Are these hard to install outside where I have limited tools?

No. A cordless drill with a single bit is all you need to add a mounting hole to a leg that does not already have one. The T-nut drops in, the leveler screws in by hand, and you adjust each foot until the furniture sits level. Most installations take under ten minutes per piece.

What if my outdoor furniture has plastic legs — can I still use these?

Threaded T-nuts require a solid wood leg to bite into. For plastic, metal tube, or hollow legs, you would need a different mounting approach (such as a threaded insert or a slip-over sleeve). We do not currently offer those variants.

How do I install the leveling feet on a piece of furniture without existing mounting holes?

Flip the furniture on its side or upside down. Mark the center of each leg about 3/4" up from the bottom face. Drill a hole sized for the T-nut (typically 5/16" for the 1/4"-20 T-nut and 7/16" for the 3/8"-16 T-nut) to the depth of the T-nut barrel. Tap the T-nut into the hole with a hammer, then screw the leveling foot in by hand. Adjust the foot height by rotating it until the furniture sits level.

How do I know which thread size — 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 — to order?

The thread size depends on the hole in your furniture leg. Measure the inside diameter of the existing hole or T-nut, and count the threads per inch if possible. 1/4"-20 is the most common size for residential furniture; 3/8"-16 is typically used for heavier commercial or workshop pieces. If you are drilling new holes, match the T-nut size to the leg thickness — 1/4"-20 for legs under about 2" thick, 3/8"-16 for thicker legs.

Can I adjust the height after the furniture is fully assembled and in place?

Yes. That is one of the main advantages of threaded levelers. Simply rotate the base of each foot by hand to raise or lower that corner. Most adjustments take only a few turns, and you do not need to move the furniture to make fine adjustments.

Will these fit my IKEA furniture?

Many IKEA pieces use a 5/16" or 8mm pre-drilled leg hole, which is close to but not exactly 1/4"-20. Some IKEA legs accept a 1/4"-20 T-nut with light sanding of the hole; others require a 3/8"-16 T-nut drilled to the correct size. Measure the existing hole before ordering, and choose the closest thread size.

Do these work on metal furniture legs or only wood?

T-nut installation requires a solid material that the T-nut teeth can grip, which is typically wood. For metal tube legs, you would need a threaded insert or sleeve adapter, which we do not currently include. For wood legs, hardwood, softwood, and engineered wood all work with the included T-nuts.

What exactly is in the box when I order?

Each box contains the quantity of leveling feet listed in the product title (4, 8, 12, or 24 pieces) plus a matching number of T-nuts. The T-nut thread matches the leveling foot thread. No additional hardware, tools, or adhesives are required for installation, though a drill and bit may be needed if your furniture does not have pre-drilled mounting holes.

Are the levelers safe for hardwood, laminate, tile, and carpet?

Yes. The PP non-slip base is engineered to grip all common flooring types without scratching, scuffing, or leaving residue. The polymer pad is softer than the floor surface itself, so it will not damage hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, luxury vinyl, porcelain or ceramic tile, natural stone, concrete, or low-pile carpet. For high-pile carpet, additional support under the base may be needed.

Will the threaded shaft bend or strip under heavy loads?

The galvanized steel shaft is rated for over 200 lbs of vertical load per foot, and the coarse UNC thread (1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16) resists stripping far better than fine-thread hardware. Under normal furniture loads — even a fully loaded sideboard or a heavy workbench — the shaft and threads will not bend, deform, or strip.

What is the difference between furniture levelers, furniture glides, and furniture leg caps?

Furniture levelers are threaded adjusters that raise or lower each leg independently to fix wobble. Furniture glides are flat pads (felt, plastic, or metal) attached to the bottom of a leg to protect the floor from scratches, but they offer no height adjustment. Furniture leg caps are decorative covers that slip over the leg end for appearance, also with no leveling function. Levelers are the only category that actually solves a wobble problem.
