Product Information
EARL GREY TEA FOR FOR EARL GREY LOVERS - Our Earl Grey Imperial tea is an elegant tea with a little extra bergamot, as compared to a regular Earl Grey tea. So it is an absolute must for those who just need a little bit 'extra' in their Earl Grey. A particular blend of teas from China and India are flavored with natural bergamot oil. This fine afternoon tea was originally commissioned for British Prime Minister, Earl Grey. Ingredients: Black teas, Oolong Tea, Natural Oil of Bergamot.
GREAT PRESENT IDEA - This tea is featured in Harney's Historic Royal Palaces Collection in a traditional tin design, making it a great present idea for tea lovers. Tin contains 30 sachets. Each sachet contains enough tea to brew a 12 ounce cup of tea.
BREWING SUGGESTION - Tea is only as good as the water it is brewed in. Use filtered water as needed. Use one sachet for each cup of tea desired. Pour 212F water over the tea and infuse for 5 minutes. Remove the sachet. Relax and enjoy. Contains caffeine, 40-60 milligrams per cup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this Earl Grey tea come in a giftable tin that doesn't require extra wrapping?
Yes. The tea arrives in a decorative reusable tin from the Historic Royal Palaces collection with artwork inspired by British heritage sites. The tin itself is presentable enough to give directly, so you can skip the gift wrap unless you want to add a ribbon or card.
Is this a good birthday gift for a woman who already loves tea?
It is a strong choice for the tea lover who already has the basics. The imperial-strength bergamot profile stands apart from standard Earl Grey blends, and the collectible tin gives the gift a keepsake element she can reuse on her tea station long after the sachets are gone.
Can I give this as a hostess gift without it feeling generic?
Yes. Because the tin design is tied to the Historic Royal Palaces collection and the blend is described as imperial-strength, it reads as a more considered gift than a typical grocery-store tea box. Pair it with a small handwritten note for an even more personal touch.
Is this a safe gift choice if I don't know whether the recipient drinks caffeinated tea?
Each cup contains a moderate 40-60mg of caffeine, which is less than a typical cup of coffee. If the recipient avoids caffeine entirely, this is not the right pick, but for most casual tea drinkers the level is comfortably drinkable even in the late afternoon.
Does the order ship in time to be used as a last-minute holiday present?
Harney & Sons is known for prompt shipping and items typically arrive well-packaged to keep the tea fresh. For guaranteed holiday arrival, place the order a few days before the occasion, but for most standard shipping windows the timing works for last-minute gifting.
Will the recipient like it if they usually prefer lighter or flavored teas?
The blend is bergamot-forward but rounded out with vanilla, black currant, caramel, honey, and stone fruit notes, so it has natural sweetness and complexity without added sugar. Drinkers who enjoy fragrant or dessert-leaning black teas tend to respond well, even if they usually find Earl Grey too sharp.
Is the tin design the same for every box, or will the recipient get a specific variant?
Tin design may vary. The Historic Royal Palaces collection includes several themed variants, and the specific artwork received depends on availability. If matching a specific tin matters for a collection, contact the seller before placing the order.
What if my gift recipient prefers loose-leaf over tea bags?
The sachets are designed to deliver loose-leaf quality in a single-serve format, with a distinctive bag design that prevents leaves from escaping into the cup. Most loose-leaf drinkers appreciate the convenience without feeling like they are sacrificing flavor.
Is it appropriate for a corporate gifting occasion?
Yes. The decorative tin, royal heritage branding, and 30-sachet count make it appropriate for client gifts, employee appreciation, or team gifting. The presentation feels upscale without crossing into overly personal territory.
What makes this a better gift than a standard Earl Grey from the grocery store?
Three things: the imperial-strength bergamot profile is more pronounced and complex, the tin is a collectible keepsake rather than a disposable box, and the Historic Royal Palaces story adds a talking point that makes the gift feel curated rather than last-minute.
Does the recipient need a special kettle or accessory to enjoy the gift?
No. The silken sachets brew in any standard cup with hot water from a kettle, microwave, or even a coffee maker. If you want to pair the gift, a simple electric kettle or a small tea steeper would complement it nicely.
Can I send this directly to the gift recipient as a present?
Yes. Many sellers allow shipping to an alternate address. Place the order with the recipient's address as the shipping destination and your own as the billing address, and consider adding a gift note if the option is available at checkout.
Is the price reasonable for a premium gift, or does it feel overpriced?
For a 30-sachet tin from a heritage tea brand with collectible packaging, the price is positioned in the accessible premium range. Customers frequently note that the sachets go far and that the reusable tin adds value beyond the tea itself, which keeps the per-cup cost reasonable for a gift-tier product.
What if the recipient has dietary restrictions I don't know about?
The tea is kosher certified, gluten-free, and unsweetened, with no added sugar or sweeteners. The ingredient list is straightforward, but if the recipient has a specific allergy, you can request the full ingredient panel from the brand before gifting.
Can the tin be reused after the tea is gone, or is it meant to be recycled?
The tin is designed to be reused. Customers commonly repurpose it for storing loose tea, small kitchen items, sewing supplies, or as a decorative catchall, which extends the life of the gift well beyond the tea itself.
If the gift recipient is a Harney & Sons collector, is this tin part of an official set?
Yes. This is part of the Historic Royal Palaces collection, which features multiple themed variants. Collectors often seek out the full set, so this tin fits naturally alongside other designs in the same line.
How do I brew a single cup of this Earl Grey?
Use one silken sachet per 12 ounces of freshly boiled water. Steep for 4-5 minutes, then remove the sachet. For a stronger cup, steep longer or brew two sachets in 24 ounces of water. For a lighter cup, dilute a single sachet brew with additional hot water.
Can I reuse a sachet for a second cup?
Yes. A single sachet can be steeped a second time for a lighter follow-up cup. For best results, brew the first cup at full strength and then immediately re-steep the same sachet in another 12 ounces of hot water for a shorter 2-3 minute steep.
How should I store the tin to keep the tea fresh?
Keep the tin sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odors. The metal tin itself does a good job of protecting the sachets from moisture and air, so there is no need to transfer them to a separate container. The two-year shelf life gives you plenty of time to work through a tin.
Does this tea work with an electric kettle, or do I need a special kettle?
Any kettle that brings water to a full boil works fine, including standard stovetop kettles, electric kettles, and temperature-controlled kettles set to 212°F. No specialty equipment is required to enjoy the tea.
Is this tea compatible with a sweetener, milk, or other add-ins?
Yes. The blend is frequently enjoyed plain, but it pairs well with cream, milk, stevia, monk fruit, honey, and sugar. It also blends nicely with other Harney & Sons teas, such as a caramel-forward blend, and is commonly used in collagen or latte-style preparations.
What is included in the tin when it arrives?
Each tin contains 30 silken sachets of HRP Earl Grey Imperial black and oolong tea blend. No additional accessories are included, so you will need a cup, a kettle or hot water source, and optionally milk or a sweetener to brew.
Is this tea safe for people with common dietary restrictions?
The blend is kosher certified, gluten-free, and contains no added sugar or sweeteners. It does contain natural bergamot oil and a black and oolong tea base. If you have a specific allergy or medical concern, review the full ingredient list on the tin or contact the brand before consuming.
How long will a tin stay fresh after I open it?
Unopened, the tin has a two-year shelf life. Once opened, the sachets stay fresh for many months as long as the tin is resealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and strong odors. Harney & Sons' packaging is specifically designed to preserve flavor after opening.
How is Earl Grey different from regular black tea?
Earl Grey is a black tea blend flavored with bergamot oil, which gives it a distinctive citrus aroma and taste. This imperial version uses a black and oolong base and a more pronounced natural bergamot oil, with added complexity from vanilla, black currant, caramel, honey, and stone fruit notes.
